I’m going to finish eating this candy
bar!
[PUTS THE LAST PIECE OF CANDY IN HIS MOUTH, WADS THE PAPER
WRAPPER IN HIS HANDS AND DROPS IT ON THE GROUND.]
WEEP
[WEEP WATCHES AS THE PAPER FALLS TO THE GROUND.]
But you dropped the empty wrapper on
the ground…
BERB
So?
WEEP
So? That’s not right!
BERB
It’s just a piece of paper…
WEEP
No, it was a piece of paper, now it’s
a piece of trash.
BERB
It won’t hurt anything…
WEEP
Yes, it hurts the environment. It
hurts where we live.
BERB
Huh?
[RINGO STARR ENTERS FROM THE LEFT TO JOIN THE TWO.]
RINGO STARR
Hello guys. What’s happening?
WEEP
Hi Mr. Ringo!
BERB
Weep’s upset because I threw a piece
of paper on the ground. Big deal!
RINGO STARR
Oh, hold on Berb. THat doesn’t sound
right. I agree with Weep. If you
litter, you pollute.
BERB
But, I just threw my wrapper over here
and my empty bottle over there.
Because I don’t need them anymore.
What’s wrong with that?
WEEP
We don’t litter or pollute. We all
need to take care for the places where
we live.
RINGO STARR
Right. Leaving all those bits on the
ground isn’t good for the plants,
birds, the bees or other things trying
to live here. We should all try to
love the world, take good care of
it... it’s the only one we’ve got.
WEEP
Boogaloo, you can do your part too!
All you need to do is back off on
littering!
Show you care for the plants, trees
the animals and the bees. Back off on
littering so much and care more for
the plants and trees and things?
